SXSW is a globally renowned destination for global professionals featuring unparalleled sessions and networking with tech entrepreneurs, innovators, and creatives from around the world.

The best-known global conference and festivals dedicated to helping creative people achieve their goals at the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture.

Our Mission

This Mission will showcase excellence in the state, build important commerce networks, and support the market expansion of the First Nations business ecosystem.

The innovation mission is hosted by the WA Invest and Trade US Hub and led by First Nations X Co-Founders Paula Taylor and Peter Rossdeutscher.

Scholarships

Scholarships from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation in Western Australia.

Available for 5x First Nations entrepreneurs and innovators with high potential to scale in the US.

Scholarships will have sponsored access to a range of trade activities:

  • Travel and accommodation costs.

  • One SXSW Conference Badge.

  • Pre-departure workshops on accessing the USA market.

  • Welcome trade program event.

  • On-ground support from First Nations X and the State Government team.

  • Networking opportunities to connect with industry in the US.

Empowering Indigenous Entrepreneurship

Mission Itinerary

The Indigenous Founder stream strategically aligns with a Ministerial Mission to the USA in March 2024.

In addition to the SXSW official programme, the mission includes speaking opportunities, high-level events, and networking opportunities.

Key Dates

February
6th: EOI Applications Close at 2pm WST
20th to 25th: USA Market Ready Readiness Program+

March
6th: Departure - Perth to Austin, Texas
13th: Return - Austin to Perth

Who Should Apply

Delegates for the Indigenous Entrepreneurship Mission will be chosen through a competitive EOI process. The selection panel will focus in awarding these sponsorships on:

  • W.A. high-growth Indigenous-owned businesses.

  • Factors that demonstrate how the beneficiaries would significantly benefit from participating.

  • Strengths in showcasing the best of WA entrepreneurship and innovation.

  • US (and global) market readiness.

  • How the business could contribute to the State.
